The Thump

The infamous scene in which Kips hears in the distance of the abandon home a faint thump. As he begins to explore for the source of the sound it grows in volume and intensity as he draws closer. Accompanied by an eerie pitched drone to help enhance tension. He begins to slowly hear the ghost outside before the sound disappears.

Cross Country Journey

As Kipps makes his journey to the abandon home, straight away the sound design establishes the vibe of the production. We hear an eerie tune play as underscore while we hear in the background the sounds of the train in motion. Eventually he changes over to a different station before continuing his journey. The script mentions the sound of the train accelerates and takes us directly into blackout.

A Haunting

Slamming the door shut on his way out, Kipps has decided he has had enough of the abandoned home. As he tries to traverse the swamp, he begins to hear in the distance the sound of the ghost that haunts this land. Mistaking it for someone coming back for him, the ghost travels around him before eventually crashing and drowning in the swamp while we hear the young ghost crying.
